Proposition 1A

As an added "bonus" for Tea Parties, we in California have a grossly irresponsible state government to complaint about, too. The budget was months late and tens of billions out of balance. We got a 1% temporary (see next post!) increase in the sales tax, a surcharge on income taxes, borrowing, and no real reform in how the state government works. However, we can do something about it. The legislature has authorized several initiatives for a special election in May (how many of you even knew that was happening?). Of these, the most critical one to defeat is Proposition 1A.
